Finally! March 4, 2006

Posted by Kelsey in flights.
trackback

We have the tickets, the insurance, ID cards, and a promise that bikes will be allowed on all the flights!

I have raided the library for books on Madagascar, and Antipode by Heather Heying turned out to be a fantastic read. She spent a lot of time in Maroantsetra and Nosy Mangabe researching mantella, tiny colorful toxic frogs. It gave an excellent overview of the culture in the region that we’ll be spending most of our time in.

French lessons at the Alliance Francais have started, and hopefully by the end of April we’ll have enough French to get ourselves around (or at least get through customs). For now, this is all I have: “Bonjour! Je m’apelle Kelsey. Je suis etudiante. Je suis canadienne.”

If nothing else, everyone one we run into will get to know my name!
